Project Management

With each of our projects, we are as involved as much or as little as our clients wish. We refer to our architects for any structural alteration and provide a cohesive design with you. Logistically DZINE will ensure the smooth running of all aspects, bringing in the various trades as and when appropriate.

Procurement

We work closely with architects and builders, which allows us to consider room layouts and lighting from the outset. This proactive approach helps avoid issues such as where to place furniture and table lamps later in the project. Paint colors are carefully chosen to complement the overall design scheme, and with Bronwen's previous experience as a color consultant with Farrow & Ball, the project is viewed holistically to achieve a cohesive and polished look.

Once the soft furnishings are selected, they can either be delivered or, in the case of curtains and blinds, installed. Larger items like beds, headboards, sofas, and chairs are then installed later in the process. Finally, we dress the project upon completion to ensure every detail is perfectly in place.

Frequently asked Question & Answers

What do interior designers do?

Interior designers plan and design the internal layout and aesthetic of residential, commercial, and public spaces. Their role includes understanding how a space is used, optimising layouts, selecting furnishings and finishes, and creating a cohesive, functional, and visually pleasing environment.

How much do interior designers charge?

Fees vary depending on the project scope and designer. At Interior D:ZINE, we charge an initial consultancy fee starting from £160 per home visit (usually 1–2 hours) within a 30-mile radius. Additional hourly rates are discussed directly with the client based on the size and complexity of the project.

Are interior designers expensive?

A good interior designer is an investment. Not only can they help you avoid costly mistakes, but they also have access to a trusted team of tradespeople and suppliers. AtInterior D:ZINE, we submit transparent fees and often project-manage to ensure quality, timing, and cost-effectiveness throughout.

Is it worth investing in an interior designer?

Yes. A designer helps you make the most of your budget, often finding quality items at the right price. We guide you in making smart, lasting choices that improve both functionality and aesthetics.

Can an interior designer help me budget a project?
Absolutely. The client sets the budget, and the designer works within it to ensure it is realistic for the project’s size and goals. We prioritize spending wisely, advising where to invest and how to make meaningful improvements room by room. Structural issues must be resolved first, but once addressed, we focus on decorative planning.

Do interior designers make a difference?

Definitely. Whether a project is large or small, a designer brings vision, experience, and structure to the process. Much of our work happens behind the scenes—from sourcing to coordination—and saves the client time, stress, and money. Our goal is always to bring your vision to life.

How do I explain the style I want to a designer?

Clients often choose a designer based on:

  1. Reputation

  2. Recommendations

  3. The designer’s ability to make a space unique from the outset

We will at D:ZINE guide you in expressing your preferences and tailor the scheme accordingly. Mood boards, samples, and conversations all help ensure your style is understood and reflected.

What kind of work can a designer take on (e.g., curtains)?

At Interior D:ZINE, we offer a full-service approach. This can include:

  • Curtains and soft furnishings

  • Lighting and furniture sourcing

  • Collaborating with architects or builders

  • Supplying materials and managing tradespeople

We manage the process from concept to completion. You simply make the final choices—we handle the rest.

Does an interior designer do reupholstery?

Yes, we often work with a trusted upholsterer and have access to a wide range of fabrics that aren’t readily available to the public. We create tailored schemes based on your brief, incorporating reupholstery where appropriate.

What’s the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?

An interior designer is trained in both the structural and aesthetic aspects of a space, covering layout, lighting, furnishings, and more.

An interior decorator focuses primarily on soft furnishings and visual styling.

At Interior D:ZINE, we proudly operate as interior designers, offering full project oversight.
